Tarps process:
By signing the agreement, you are giving us permission to do what Is needed in order to put a tarp on your house when necessary.
As you’re aware, storms come in all shapes and sizes in Florida. Everyone in Florida has experienced terrible storms that aren’t named and some that are. If this happens to you after you sign the agreement, the first thing you should do is call the office and report the issue. If you have signed up for our MHS home watch program, you do not need to call as we will be checking your house anyway after the storm. If you are aware of an issue, please call the office, this way we would know to bring additional tools or supplies that might be needed to complete your request sooner.
We will inspect the damage and do what is necessary to install the tarp, this includes minor encumbrances (Webster’s definition – inferior in importance, size, or degree).
Tarp installation may not be as easy as it sounds as you never know what you’re going to get after the storm. If you haven’t settled with your insurance company within 6 months, you may need another one. If necessary, we will replace your tarp at the original price and remove and dispose of the current one. Tarps are not a permanent fix; they do not last forever. For our purposes, we consider them a maintenance item.
“Tarps are not as easy to tie down as one would think. Depending on the application, 1” x 2” furring strips may be used or sandbags, or a combination thereof (to possibly include some rope) or peal/seal, and even bungee cord. All situations could be different. If you have a large hole or a sizable depression, you might need a piece of plywood installed so water doesn’t puddle”.
The tarps that will be secured with the 1” x 2” wood strips are screwed to the roof. By having it screwed down, holes are put in the roof; they are typically put under the eave to avoid water intrusion. If you have an agreement with us and your insurance allows, MHS will bill your insurance company for you. If you have our service, we will be there within 2 days (48 hrs.) assuming the entire state wasn’t devastated by the storm.
When it comes to Manufactured homes, which do not have traditional trusses, (may have sheet metal or TPO “rubber” roof), you want to hire a professional to handle it. This is where we come in … we specialize in Manufacture home care. We don’t claim perfection, but we are local, we are licensed and insured, and know what we’re doing. We are not storm chasers and you will see us again after the storm as we live and work here (not out of state looking for quick money).
Whomever you use, make sure they are licensed and insured (Workers Comp. and General Liability). If they do not have Workers Comp. coverage and get hurt on your property, you will be in court with Morgan and Morgan!! Once we receive your signed contract, we will send back to you a paid receipt and a copy of our insurance.
